Holy guacamole! It’s National Avocado Day 2018 today, and Chipotle is celebrating by giving you free guacamole with orders placed online or via the Chipotle app.

As any Chipotle customer knows and probably heard many times before, “guac is extra” under normal circumstances at the burrito chain: The famous phrase is even on T-shirts.

On Tuesday, July 31, however, there’s an exception and guacamole is free at Chipotle with qualifying orders, because it’s National Avocado Day 2018. Why today? The calendar is now riddled with made-up food holidays, and at some point someone decreed that July 31 would henceforth forever be known as National Avocado Day.

To qualify for Chipotle’s National Avocado Day 2018 deal, you must log in or create an account at the Chipotle app or at chipotle.com. Then, place an order with any entrée — burrito, bowl, salad, and such — and add guacamole as an add-on, side, or separate order of guac and chips. Finally, before checking out, enter the promotional coupon code AVOCADO so that your guacamole is free.

Guacamole fans, take note that there is one other National Avocado Day deal that we know of out there today. The Freebirds World Burrito restaurant chain, which has 73 locations around the U.S., also has a great free guacamole deal: Customers get a free side of guacamole with the purchase of any Monster-sized or larger burrito.

The National Avocado Day free guacamole deal at Freebirds is available on Tuesday, July 31, for all customers. There is no promotional code required when you order, and you can get the deal in-person or online.
